Prof. Adam Waldemar Skorek (IEEE: M’87, SM’90, F’09, LF’22) completed Bachelor and Master of Electrical Engineering Program at Białystok University  of Technology (Poland) receiving both Master and Engineer degrees in 1980. In 1983 he received a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree in Electrical Engineering ( Electrical Engineering Faculty Doctoral Studies ) at Warsaw University  of Technology (Poland)   From 1983 to 1987 he was a Visiting Lecturer  at the Institute  of Telecommunications in Oran (Algeria).  In 1987,  he joined the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR), where currently,  he is a Full Professor and Director of the  Electro-Thermal Management Laboratory He founded the UQTR’s Electro-Thermal Management Laboratory which succeeded both the NanoHeat Laboratory and the UQTR’s Industrial ElectroHeat Laboratory founded and directed by himself since 1989. 


Currently, he is conducting electrical engineering courses for bachelor, master and Ph.D. students. His research works were granted by NSERC, CFI, FRQNT, MITACS and Industry. He has made significant contributions  to the numerical analysis of electro-thermal phenomena by exploring  and applying various techniques to electrical apparatus and electronic devices.   He published and co-published over 150 papers including works on High Performance Computing applications in electro-thermal analysis. A number of those publications are available at IEEE Xplore. 


He was also a Chair of Canadian Heads  and Chairs of Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments.  He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada as well as an IEEE Fellow and IEEE Electron Devices Society Distinguished Lecturer. 


Awards:

- IEEE RAB/MGA Leadership Award 

- IEEE Canada W.S. Read Outstanding Services Award

 - IEEE Industry Applications Society Distinguished Service Award (2021). 

-  Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (Canada, 2012)

 - Gold Cross of Merit from the Presidents of the Republic  of Poland  (Canada, 2004)

- Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland(Canada, 2015). 


Volunteering:

Prof. Adam W. Skorek has been volunteering for Polish organizations in Canada for years, assuming various functions. 

- More than 35 years of volunteering for  IEEE - Past chair of IEEE Richard Harold Kaufmann Award and  currently serves as a IEEE Fellow Committee Member.

- President of the Canadian Polish Congress – District Quebec (2015-2016

- Rooster Brotherhood - Knightly Order of St. John Cantius  (Chicago IL, 2023)
